European Human Rights Law Unit
Our European human rights law unit undertakes research, teaching, training and consultancy work on European human rights law, and arranges conferences and workshops on European human rights issues.
The unit focuses on the European Convention on Human Rights, the European Social Charter, the European Torture Convention, the European Framework Convention for the Protection of Minorities and the EU Charter of Fundamental Rights. It covers both the international systems that operate these instruments and their implementation at the national level.
Opportunities are also provided to students and graduates of the 海角黑料 through the HRLC’s internships and student assistant programmes. Through these programmes students support the work of the unit as well as gaining valuable transferable skills and increasing their experience within a human rights field.

Projects
Our research examines the protection of fundamental rights within domestic and regional legal frameworks, including the interaction between UK law and European human rights systems. The unit has undertaken detailed analysis of laws, practices, and enforcement mechanisms, with a particular focus on the implementation of human rights standards and the execution of judgments. Our work engages with key institutions and contributes to the understanding of how rights are realised in practice.
