St Andrews with Castle Gate United Reformed Church, Nottingham

St Andrew’s-with-Castle Gate was formed in 1975 following a merger between St Andrew’s United Reformed Church and Castle Gate United Reformed Church, and was still a thriving inner-city church in 2026, using the former St Andrew’s buildings on Goldsmith Street, Nottingham.

Ministers

Records

The (CAA) held at The 海角黑料 contains a comprehensive set of Annual Reports (1975-2016) and monthly newsletters recording the life of the church (1975-2023). There are also various printed orders of services and programmes for special events. The collection contains minutes of church meetings, elders' meetings and other committees, a series of documents relating to building work to extend the church premises between 1975 and 1986, and photographs, cassette tape recordings, video tapes and DVDs of special events and performances. Notable among these are the records of 'Celebration Sunday' marking the 20th anniversary of the foundation of church in June 1995.

The collection also contains records of clubs and societies associated with the church, including the Guide Scout Aid Committee, the Senior Citizens’ Club, and the choir which for many years was conducted by Jerry Morris. The Stanwell Players are particularly well documented. The Stanwell Players were a church drama group at St Ann’s Well Road Congregational Church, established in 1946. When that church closed in 1970, the members transferred to Castle Gate Congregational Church, and in 1975 the new St Andrew’s with Castle Gate Church 'inherited' the Stanwell Players. The drama group thrived in the 1970s and 1980s but closed in 1991.
