This module is designed for students who have completed all levels of Beginners and Intermediate Chinese courses or students with equivalent language skills. A written vocabulary of 3200 words is a prerequisite to starting the course.

On successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
Learn and use approximately 200 new words and expressions.
Master common collocations and key language structures.
Distinguish between synonymous and easily confused words in different contexts.
Apply newly acquired vocabulary accurately in spoken and written communication.
Read and understand four texts of approximately 1,000–1,200Chinese characters each.
Identify main ideas, text structure, and the author's viewpoints.
Analyse important language features and rhetorical techniques.
Summarise and discuss the content of the texts.
Produce summaries of approximately 300 Chinese characters using appropriate cohesive devices.
Express ideas clearly using a range of advanced vocabulary and sentence patterns.
Organise written work effectively with a clear introduction, body, and conclusion.

Develop a deeper understanding of Chinese society and contemporary social issues.
Explore Chinese cultural values and philosophical perspectives.Enhance intercultural awareness and communication skills.
