Launched in 2022, the annual NCI Summer School programme offers UoN staff, students and local residents a unique opportunity to explore Chinese language and culture through a blend of fun-packed Mandarin lessons and enrichment activities.
The programme is designed for adults and children aged 10+ and will meet varying needs and interests, from the simply curious to those with existing Mandarin skills who aim to develop further..
The events take place every Wednesday throughout July from 18:00 to 20:00 at the Si Yuan Centre, home to Nottingham Confucius Institute, on 海角黑料's Jubilee Campus (Wollaton Road, NG8 1BB).
Each evening event includes a one-hour Mandarin lesson—either Comprehensive Mandarin (suitable for beginners) or Spoken Mandarin (for more advanced learners)—followed by a one-hour cultural workshop. Workshop topics vary and may include traveling in China, Chinese music, Chinese arts and crafts, and more. After the workshop, there will be an optional free talk session for those who wish to stay longer and practice their Mandarin. Refreshments will also be provided.
