Dates lessons will not run in 2026

Swimming lessons will not run on the following dates:

• Friday 3rd - Monday 6th April 2026 (dates inclusive)
• Thursday 2nd & 9th April 2026 - Morning lessons only (evening lessons running as normal)
• Monday 4th May 2026
• Monday 25th May 2026
• Thursday 28th May 2026 -Morning lessons only (evening lessons running as normal)
• Monday 27th July - Sunday 30th August 2026 (inclusive)
• Monday 31st August 2026

No lessons at the main pool between 12-4pm on Saturday 18th April & Saturday 9th May 2026 due to events

Lessons affected are:

• 12n Teenagers 1
• 12.30 Stage 1
• 13.00 Teenagers 3
• 13.30 Teenagers 2
• 14.00 Beginners
• 14.30 Foundation
• 15.00 Stage 1
• 15.30 Stage 2
• All 121/Private Bubble lessons

Early years lessons at the Hydro pool and group lessons between 9.00-12.45 will be running as normal.

Lessons will continue to run during the October, February, Easter and Spring term school holiday periods as before. This doesn't apply for Thursday Adult swimming lessons.

Swim teachers update

Recently we have been struggling with staffing and we appreciate your patience during this time.

We have been working on a big recruitment drive to increase our staffing and improve the levels of staff available. Over the coming months you will notice the poolside will be busier than normal whilst we are training new teachers on the programme.

Whilst we have the additional staffing we will be looking to work with swimmers on 121 basis where possible to boost swimmers progress. 

Parking

General parking advice

When attending your lesson you can park in any of the halls car parks available on campus.

Impacts to parking

During April and May 2026 we will be hosting events on the following dates that may impact parking:

• Monday 27th April 2026
• Saturday 2nd May 2026
• Sunday 3rd May 2026
• Saturday 9th May 2026
• Saturday 16th May 2026
• Sunday 17th May 2026

Parking with be busier than usual so please allow extra time for your journey and security will be available to direct you to parking spaces available.

Parking Mondays - Fridays before 4.30pm

When attending your lesson you can park in any of the halls car parks available on campus. If you are parking during the daytime Monday - Friday before 4.30pm, you can park in any of the halls car parks for free for 2 hours however you will need to register your car on the tablets available at the David Ross Sports Village reception or at the swimming pool.

Changes to parking from 2nd March 2026 - delayed

As you will be aware, there have been signs put up around campus saying that new parking charges will be implemented from 2nd March 2026. This has now been delayed so parking will continue as normal, free Monday - Friday from 4.30pm and all day weekends.

University Park campus road closures

For the attention of all customers. To prevent drivers using University Park campus as a short cut to bypass any traffic while roadworks are carried out on the A52 between Priory roundabout and QMC roundabout, barriers are in place to ensure that members of our community can access and leave campus safely. From 7am on Wednesday 28 May, these barriers will be closed from 7am to 7pm, seven days a week for the duration of the roadworks. All customers will need to plan their car journeys through campus. Please be respectful to members of security staff who are helping to manage the barrier operation, redirect traffic and ensure the safe flow of vehicles through campus. The work is expected to last approximately 12 months and the barriers have been put in place to ensure that members of our community can access and leave campus safely. There are two barriers in place:

• Hallward
  Located on Cut Through Lane, between Hallward and The New Theatre, just after Cherry Tree Hill (coming from Portland). Traffic coming up Cut Through Lane will be required to turn right down Library Road, and follow the network round to Cripps Hill, where they will have to turn left towards North entrance they can also turn right and to exit via South Exit.

• Cripps Health Centre
  Located just in front of the Zebra Crossing at Cripps Health Centre. Traffic coming up Cripps Hill can turn left or right down Lenton Hall Drive, before turning around and going back down Cripps Hill. Traffic coming up Beeston Lane will not be able to pass this point.

The following car parks can be accessed from West entrance:

• Lincoln Hall (D2)

• Derby Hall (C2)

• Sherwood Hall (C2)

• Ancaster and Cavendish Halls (A3)

• Trent and Jubilee Avenue (D4)

• or the spaces on the road adjacent to EMCC (B3)

• spaces around David Ross Sports Village (A2)

These can all be located on the map of University Park using the grid code next to each option.

Thursday evening lessons

From 29th January 2026, we will be starting lessons on Thursday evenings. Due to pool spacing we will only have shallow water lessons available.

There will be a limited programme to start, with plans to grow the programme as demand increases.

Classes available:

If you would like to move your lesson to a Thursday evening please email swimschool@nottingham.ac.uk and they will arrange your move. Current customers have until Monday 26th January 2026 before we open the spaces to new customers.

Additional parking

From Wednesday 25th February 2026, there will be additional parking available on the concrete area at the bottom of the drive to the David Ross Sports Village. This will provide an additional 150 parking spaces which will be available to customers only. Normal parking charges apply. 

Monday - Friday before 4.30pm you need to register at reception for the 2 hours free or use the Ringo app for over 2 hours. After 4.30pm and all day at weekends parking is free.
