Welcome! Researchers at the School of Psychology are doing a wide range of research activities in which people can take part, either by coming to the School of Psychology, or from home! Many of the tasks have been made into games to make sure the whole experience is enjoyable! The in-person studies will usually award some kind of inconvenience allowance (cash or vouchers).Current in-person and online studies at a glance:

IN-PERSON STUDY DETAILS
What study entails: Transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) + working memory task
How long does it take: 2.5-3h
Where does it take place: Psychology Building B45
Inconvenience allowance: £20
Eligibility Requirements: Healthy adults of all ages. Since this is a brain stimulation study, participants' eligibility will be confirmed after completing a tDCS screening form. Among other conditions, participants with history of epilepsy, existing skin conditions and scalp sensitivity, as well as frequent headaches/migraines will not be eligible.

What study entails: Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) with the possibility of EEG to understand the interactions between the primary motor cortex and primary visual cortex.
How long does it take: The study is split over two sessions. The first takes around an hour. The second session should take no longer than three hours

What study entails: Painless transcranial alternating current stimulation (tACS) and transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) over the motor cortex.

ONLINE STUDY DETAILS
What study entails: This online study investigates the relationship between schizotypal personality traits and auditory rhythm processing. This will help to further our understanding of some of the cognitive impairments experienced by people with schizophrenia. Participants will complete a short-term rhythm memory task, and the O-LIFE questionnaire to measure schizotypal personality traits. Both the rhythm task and the questionnaire will be completed online.

Eligibility Requirements: You need to be between 18 and 40 years old with normal hearing. You also require a computer/laptop and headphones to complete the online study.

What study entails: This study will investigate how individuals form impressions of faces and how this might be influenced by different types of judgements or personal experiences.
