Manuscripts and Special Collections will be temporarily closed from 8 June to 9 August 2026. This is to allow for the relocation of the Reading Room and staff offices within King's Meadow Campus.

• The East Midlands Collection (which contains materials on the counties of Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire, Nottinghamshire and Rutland) will be unavailable from Monday 1 June
• The Reading Room (for consulting archives and rare books) will be completely closed from 8 June until 9 August. 

During the closure period, there will be no access to archives or the library collections as well as significant disruption to the enquiry and copying services.

Staff within Manuscripts and Special Collections can still be contacted by email, but please be aware that colleagues will have restricted access to some collections.
