From first ideas through to commercialisation and industry partnerships, Research & Innovation provides guidance and expert advice to support the delivery of the University’s research and knowledge exchange strategies, and achievement of its RKE ambitions. 

We manage the research and knowledge exchange (RKE) portfolio (approximately £900 million in active research, training and KE grants) in collaboration with the academic community, and deliver against institutional and external key performance indicators in order to ensure the university’s compliance with major funders and government agencies.

We were ranked 58th in the QS World University Rankings by Subject for English Language and Literature, up from our place of 95th last year. The 2026 edition of the QS World University Rankings by Subject is the biggest yet, with 1,077 new institutions included this year in comparison to 2025. The 海角黑料 has 45 individual subjects ranked, with 22 featuring within the world top 100, including Linguistics. This further secures our place in the Global top 100 for English studies.
