Your Voice Matters: Get involved with student voice in the School of English

Your opinions and experiences are essential for shaping a positive and supportive learning environment. Our Student Voice initiatives ensure that students have a real say in how the School operates and evolves.

Become a Student Representative

Our course reps are a crucial part of the School of English community. They gather feedback from the student community and work together with academic and administrative staff to create real change within the School. They also play a vital role in connecting students with staff and helping to improve the overall academic experience. Any student can apply to be a rep at the start of each academic year.

Student Staff Forums (SSFs)

Three times a year our Student Reps meet with academic and administrative staff to discuss and act on your feedback. The outcomes of these meetings are then shared with the whole School via the official Action Log, which you can find through your Moodle Community Hub or SharePoint page.

Senior Student Reps and the School Teaching Committee

Senior Reps speak on behalf of the student community at the School Teaching Committee. This committee is chaired by the Director of Teaching and is a platform where student feedback informs high level decisions across the School on matters related to teaching methods and resources.

Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) Committee

Our commitment to creating a welcoming and inclusive community is supported by the EDI Committee, where student feedback is crucial. Your insights help shape policies and practices that promote equality, diversity, and inclusion—making sure every student feels valued and respected.
