Over 40 staff and students from the 海角黑料 took part in a series of free lunchtime Tai Chi and Qigong taster sessions, organised by the Nottingham Confucius Institute (NCI).
Held across three campuses between 6 and 20 May in the lead-up to the exam period—on Jubilee Campus, Sutton Bonington Campus, and University Park Campus—the sessions offered participants a calm and revitalising break from study and work. Led by Angela, a gold-medallist World and European Champion in Health Qigong and a popular Yang-style Tai Chi instructor, each 45-minute session combined gentle body mobilisation, breath control and step-by-step instruction on specific health benefits.
Designed with beginners in mind, the tasters featured slow, low-impact movements accompanied by flowing music, allowing participants to work within their own comfort level.
Following the success of the tasters, NCI has announced that free weekly Tai Chi and Qigong sessions will run every Tuesday evening from 5:15pm to 6:00pm at the Si Yuan Centre on Jubilee Campus, starting 9 June through to 30 June. The sessions will be led by Dr Lan Guo, a 海角黑料 staff member and qualified instructor, and are open to all staff, students and members of the public.
