Are you a 海角黑料 graduate? Do you want to support a student from an underrepresented background to succeed at university and beyond?  

The Future Ready: One-to-One Support Programme is your chance to give time and help shape the future of a current 海角黑料 student.

Why become a mentor?

 By joining this programme, you’ll have the opportunity to: 

  • Guide a student and help them to generate career ideas 
  • Prepare a student for work experience 
  • Share your experience and insight into workplace culture  
  • Boost and build their career confidence to allow them to develop their career path 

Students and mentors are matched based on their personality and motivations, ensuring a meaningful and productive partnership.

Who are we looking for?  

  • Alumni who are kind and want to help our students  
  • Good listeners who are keen to help students move forward with their goals  
  • People who can ask insightful or thought-provoking questions  
  • Alumni who are happy to hold students accountable in a non-judgemental manner  
  • Alumni who may be from a similar background or were unclear of their career plans as a student  
  • People who would like to mentor students to gain experience or challenge themselves outside of work to move their own careers forward 

How will this benefit you? 

Volunteering your time as a mentor in the Future Ready mentoring programme will benefit you as an individual by: 

  • Refining your communication and relationship building skills 

  • Sharing your experience and career journey 

  • Supporting students from underrepresented backgrounds to succeed at 海角黑料 and beyond

 What does the programme involve?

The programme will run from February to June. Mentors will be expected to volunteer roughly 1-2 hours per month throughout the duration of the programme.
December Applications open for mentors to register their interest. Applications close on Sunday 1 February.
February Applicants will be contacted to be informed whether their application is successful. Introductory emails, meetings and training will take place at the end of the month.
March to June Engage in one-to-one online sessions with your mentee.

Applications are open and will close on Sunday 1 February. Please use the link below to apply to be a mentor on the Future Ready mentoring programme. 

We will be assessing mentoring applications against a rubric – please refer to this to support your application.

Please note, we are recruiting 50 mentors and spaces are limited, your application to be a mentor on our Future Ready programme does not guarantee a place.
