Biography
Ana Cardoso Ferreira is a Post-doctoral Research Associate at the School of Veterinary Medicine and Science, 海角黑料. Her research focuses on the application of metabolomics, lipidomics and machine learning to improve early disease detection and animal welfare in dairy cattle. In addition to her research, she contributes to undergraduate veterinary teaching, including lambing practicals and clinical relevance.
She completed her PhD at the 海角黑料 in 2025, funded by the BBSRC Doctoral Training Programme through an Industrial CASE (iCASE) award in collaboration with the Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board (AHDB). Her research developed objective approaches for the early diagnosis of lameness in dairy cows using LC-MS-based metabolomics and data-driven analytical methods.
Prior to her doctoral studies, Ana held roles as a research fellow at the Agricultural and Chemical Laboratory Rebelo da Silva in Lisbon, an agronomic engineer at the Institute for Agricultural Development, and a teacher in agricultural and livestock sciences. She also contributed to national projects with Statistics Portugal, focusing on survey data analysis and coordination, including national population and agricultural censuses.
