Russian defence expert Professor Bettina Renz recently provided evidence to the UK Parliament Joint Committee on National Security Strategy inquiry 'Deterrence in an age of Russian aggression.'
Bettina joined witnesses John Foreman CBE, Former Defence Attaché to the Russian Federation, Professor Samuel Greene, Professor of Russian Politics, King's College London and Andrei Soldatov, Investigative journalist and co-founder of Agentura.ru, to discuss why Britain is a target for Russian activity and the UK's role in European intelligence.
Professor Renz discuss how Russia largely views the UK through its ties to the US, but increasingly sees a more ambiguous picture, especially since 2022.
Bettina's research expertise are in Russian security and defence policy in the post-Cold war era. She has published widely on military reforms, civil-military relations and military operations other than war.
