Entry requirements
Foundation courses
Normally applicants from Taiwan are required to successfully complete a foundation programme.
We offer foundation courses for international students who are not qualified for direct entry to our undergraduate degree courses.
These courses are available at the 海角黑料 International College, just next to University Park Campus, in partnership with Kaplan International Colleges.

International foundation courses
Undergraduate courses
Full-time courses across our five faculties typically last for three to four years, although some degrees such as medicine and architecture have a longer duration.
Undergraduate entry requirements
Entry requirements to our bachelors degree programmes vary depending on your chosen course. However, as a minimum requirement, you will typically need one of the following for year one entry:
- a completed recognised foundation
- one year of university study at a recognised Taiwanese university with a good grade average (around 72-75%)
- a junior college degree (2,3 or 5 year) with good grades (80%+) from a recognised Taiwanese junior college (subject to meeting the required module background)
- A levels or the IB – students taking these qualifications should refer to the online undergraduate prospectus for entry requirements
- APs or SATIIs – students taking these qualifications should refer to entry requirements for the USA
- Students taking an Australian curriculum should refer to entry requirements for Australia
For year two entry, each application will be assessed based on the content of the courses studied in Taiwan and how closes they match with the programme being applied for at Nottingham. The following can be used to meet minimum criteria:
- two or more years of study at a recognised university with grades of 72-75% (subject to meeting the required module background)
- a 5 year junior college degree with exceptional grades (85%+) from a recognised Taiwanese junior college may be considered for year 2 (subject to meeting the required module background)

Masters courses
We offer a wide range of postgraduate masters degree programmes across our five faculties. Full-time masters courses typically last for one year.
Masters entry requirements
Applicants should hold a bachelors degree of a good standard from a recognised university, usually in a relevant subject area. Check course details in our Postgraduate Prospectus to see whether your chosen course requires the equivalent of an Upper Second Class (2:1) or Lower Second Class (2:2) degree.
Our entry requirements for degrees from Taiwan universities vary depending on the university where you have studied and the course you are applying for at Nottingham. The summary below is provided as guidance but requirements may vary for individual courses and we do require higher grades from some universities.

Research courses
Our PhD courses, available across a wide range of subject areas, typically include three years of full time research followed by an optional writing-up period of one year to complete your thesis.
Applicants should hold a masters degree of a good standard from a recognised university in a relevant subject area.
