Another successful season completed at the 2026 BUCS Canoe Slalom Championships

º£½ÇºÚÁÏ athletes continued their wave of success when they returned to the water one final time for the 2026 BUCS (British Universities and Colleges Sport) Canoe Slalom Championships held in Nottingham. Following a remarkable season, the team once again delivered an outstanding performance, securing multiple podium finishes across both individual and team events.

º£½ÇºÚÁÏ Sport at the 2026 BUCS Canoe Slalom Championships

Held across the 1st and 2nd of May, Holme Pierrepont saw the country's top university athletes compete at the 2026 BUCS Canoe Slalom Championships. From kayak to canoe, Nottingham athletes dominated the podium, taking home four gold medals along with one silver and three bronze medals in another outstanding team performance.

Sport scholar Ben Brown played a major role in Nottingham's success, contributing to five of the eight medals claimed overall across both team and individual events. Brown claimed gold in the MK1 event, joined on the podium by teammate Willem Bothner in third place. The pair later joined forces with Joe Whittington to secure another gold medal in the Open Team category.

In the canoe disciplines, Brown continued his winning streak by securing first place alongside Will Kettle in the C2 event, adding a third gold medal to his tally. The duo also combined with Will Mayer to a claim bronze medal in the Mixed Team category. Kettle sustained his momentum individually, winning the MC1 event and securing yet another gold medal for Nottingham.

Finally, the Kayak Cross category once again saw green and gold on the podium with Ben Brown securing silver and Willem Bothner taking bronze. Teammate Joe Whittington narrowly missed a medal with a 4th-place finish, further highlighting the depth of talent across the team.

Another impressive medal haul capped off a successful season for Nottingham's athletes, reinforcing the club's reputation as one of the leading university canoe programmes in the country. The performances across multiple disciplines in the championships demonstrated the strength, depth, and consistency of the club.
