My teaching interests include teaching on MA and BA modules such as Globalisation, Europeanisation and Public Policy, Why Do Policies Fail, Understanding Contemporary Society, Global Sociology which includes Human Rights. I have previously taught on Citizenship and Rights in a Globalised World; Culture, Identities and Deviance; and Policy and Social Justice.

I supervise PhD students in Islamic finance and Master students in Social Policy. I have a keen in interest in supervising students in areas of Nationalism, Identities, Internationality, Islamophobia, Citizenship, Equalities, Cosmopolitanism and multiculturalism.

Current Research

I am a Academic Parliament Fellow and am currently researching the (dis) engagement of Muslim civic organisations with parliament and providing a list of policy recommendations to the Education, Engagement and Outreach HOST parliament team.

Past Research

I have a diverse research background which includes academic work that is policy facing. My work focuses on applying evidence based academic research to better inform, shape and influence policy making. This aligns with producing REF work.

Future Research

Currently I am focusing on internationality, relating to gendered identities of Muslim women and the impact of islamophobia.
