Biography

I am an Associate Professor in Psychology and Senior Fellow of Advance HE. I hold a PhD in Health Psychology, an MSc in Occupational Psychology, and a BSc (Hons) in Psychology, from the º£½ÇºÚÁÏ. Alongside my Psychology academic role, I am the Digital Learning Director for the Faculty of Science.

Teaching Summary

I teach on the following modules in Psychology:

  • Undegraduate Research Project (PSGY3008): Module convenor.
  • Social Psychology (PSGY1007): Module convenor.
  • Research Methods and Analysis modules (PSGY4025; PSGY2033; PSGY2032).

Research Summary

My research interests lie in the areas of Digital Education and Health Psychology.

In the area of digital education, my interests focus on:

  • Inclusive, digitally-enhanced curriculum design supporting student engagement and belonging.
  • Staff-student partnership and co-creation.
  • Embedding digital capabilities, and other professional competencies, in the curriculum.
  • Active learning and blended learning approaches.

In the area of health psychology, my interests focus on illness perceptions, health communications and how they affect health-related decisions and behaviour.

Current projects

Designing inclusive and engaging blended learning experiences. I am the university lead for the Jisc pilot programme, 'Beyond blended: approaches to blended learning in Higher Education'. Key outcomes of this work include the development of an evidence-informed institutional framework for blended learning, supporting strategic conversations and curriculum design across disciplines, teaching practices, and modes of course delivery, including face-to-face, distance learning, and hybrid teaching.

Inclusive Student Experience and Belonging, Faculty of Science in partnership with Advance HE. Lead for Workstream 5: Developing inclusive teaching and learning practices, and broader learning opportunities, in the curriculum; inclusive assessment design in the age of Generative AI.
