The NIHR Greater Manchester PSTRC is a research centre based at the University of Manchester in partnership with Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust and funded by the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR). Its research focuses specifically on patient safety issues in a primary care setting, which has been identified as a significantly under-researched area.
The Centre has four main research themes: Medication Safety, Multimorbidity, General Practice and Interface & Informatics, with an additional focus on Patient and Public Involvement (PPI) research.
Greater Manchester PSTRC was involved in the original PINCER intervention project through its Medication Safety research theme (co-led by Prof Tony Avery, The 海角黑料, and Prof Darren Ashcroft, The University of Manchester). PRIMIS' PINCER quality improvement tool was inititally developed to aid the research for the original PINCER trial.
