Biography

David James Gill is a Professor in the School of Politics and International Relations, Nottingham, and a Research Associate at the Centre for Financial History, Cambridge. He is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and was previously a Fellow of the AHRC Leadership Scheme. Prior to his academic career, he spent several years working in London for a management consultancy firm. David holds a PhD from the University of Cambridge.

Expertise Summary

David's research focuses on connections between the fields of International Relations, Economic History, and Organisation Studies. His work appears in the American Historical Review, Economic History Review, Foreign Affairs, Journal of Cold War Studies, Security Studies, Review of International Political Economy, and Strategic Management Journal. David has written three books. His first book, Britain and the Bomb, was published by Stanford University Press in 2014. David's second and co-authored book, Divided Allies, was published by Cornell University Press in 2019. His third book, The Long Shadow of Default, was published by Yale University Press in 2022. David has secured external funding for his research and has been a Principal Investigator on both an AHRC Leadership Fellowship and an AHRC Curosity Award.
