Biography

Doctoral Researcher in Geospatial Data Science

Phil is a doctoral researcher and PhD student specialising in geospatial data science and spatial econometrics. Affiliated with the Geospatial Systems Centre for Doctoral Training across the 海角黑料 and Newcastle University, his research lies at the intersection of environmental indicators, quantitative methodology, and public health. Specifically, his work investigates the "Nature-Health" nexus, utilising advanced spatial statistics, machine learning pipelines, and mediation analysis to understand how biodiversity impacts human health and physical activity behaviours.

Phil holds a BSc in Environmental Science from the University of Leeds, an MSc in Risk and Disaster Science from University College London (UCL), and an MRes in Geospatial Data Science from the 海角黑料. Alongside his doctoral studies, he serves as a postgraduate representative for the Royal Geographical Society, actively contributing to the wider geographical research community. An experienced communicator, Phil has presented his findings at major international platforms, including the RGS International Conference and the Australian Citizen Science Association conference. His technical expertise spans advanced ecological modelling, spatial autoregressive frameworks, and predictive modelling in R and Python.
