Biography

Dr Sachiyo Ito-Jaeger is a Senior Research Fellow at the and the School of Medicine, the º£½ÇºÚÁÏ.

Her research spans two interconnected areas in Digital Mental Health:

(1) exploring how digital technologies can enhance the mental health and wellbeing of children and young people, through co-created interventions such as animations and participatory design approaches, including Soma Design; and

(2) advancing the responsible development, implementation, and evaluation of digital mental health tools, guided by Responsible Research and Innovation (RRI), with an emphasis on equity, diversity and inclusion.

Prior to joining the BRC, Sachiyo worked on the , investigating whether co-created online animations can promote mental health literacy (i.e., understanding mental health issues, reducing stigma, increasing help-seeking efficacy) among young people.

Before joining the º£½ÇºÚÁÏ, Sachiyo worked as a post-doctoral researcher for the Karyn Purvis Institute of Child Development in the United States. She holds a PhD in Experimental Psychology specialising in Developmental Psychology and Social Psychology, as well as a BA in Psychology and an MA in Cognitive and Social Psychology.
