Congratulations to colleagues Helen Bowhay and Claire Clemmet who have both recently defended their Professional Doctorate in Education (EdD) thesis.
Helen is our Director of Initial Teacher Education overseeing our PGCE courses. Her thesis: A critical realist analysis of the lived experiences of autistic teachers: “People don’t see the person.” passed with minor corrections. Helen was supervised by Dr Rupert Knight and Dr Debra Costley.
Helen is also a member of our Centre for Researching Inclusion and Social Justice in and through Education (RISE).
Claire leads our secondary PGCE courses, teaching on the maths PGCE. Her research focussed on mentors and the subject knowledge development of student mathematics teachers: developing an understanding of influences on perceptions and practice in school, and her thesis passed with minor corrections. She was supervised by Professor Andy Noyes and Dr Rupert Knight. We look forward to celebrating with them officially when they receive their doctorate at graduation later this year.
