From 20 to 24 May, President Yu Jihong of Beijing Normal University led a delegation to the United Kingdom for visits and exchanges. During the visit, the delegation paid a special visit to the 海角黑料, where President Yu signed a university-level framework cooperation agreement with Professor Jane Norman, President and Vice-Chancellor of the 海角黑料. The two universities reached a consensus on cooperation in basic disciplines as well as interdisciplinary fields including brain science and mental health, climate change and food security, and healthy ageing.
President Yu also presented Professor Christopher Day with a certificate of appointment as Guest Professor of the Faculty of Education, Beijing Normal University. In recognition of Professor Day’s long-standing and in-depth collaboration with the at Beijing Normal University, and in acknowledgement of his significant contributions, Beijing Normal University conferred upon him the academic title of Guest Professor.

Professor Christopher Day is a leading international scholar in the fields of teacher education, teachers’ professional development, and school leadership. He has maintained a long-standing and close collaboration with the Center for Teacher Education Research at Beijing Normal University, a Key Research Institute of Humanities and Social Sciences at Universities under the Ministry of Education. He has served as Guest Professor of the Center for Teacher Education Research, and has been deeply involved in the Center’s academic research and talent development. His contributions include teaching master’s and doctoral students as well as early-career academics, supporting faculty members of the Center in publishing academic papers in international journals, and serving as a member of the Center’s Fifth Academic Committee.
Professor Day also participated in the design of, and jointly led with the Center for Teacher Education Research, the District–University–School Partnership Project in Xicheng District, Beijing from 2020 to 2023. The project explored a “third space” model for deep collaboration between universities and primary and secondary schools, providing important theoretical and practical guidance for the development of regional teacher education.
Since the establishment of the first Global Teacher Education Summit in 2011, Professor Day has continuously served as a keynote speaker at the Summit. Through keynote addresses, expert guidance at the Tin Ka Ping Forum for Early-Career Scholars in Teacher Education Research, and other forms of sustained engagement, he has made significant contributions to enhancing the academic quality and international influence of the Summit.
Looking ahead, the two universities will further expand their cooperation in academic exchange, talent development, and international research collaboration. The conferment of the Guest Professor appointment upon Professor Day will help deepen high-level exchanges and strategic cooperation between the two universities, and further consolidate and expand the partnership between Beijing Normal University and the 海角黑料 in the field of teacher education.
