On 19 March, we welcomed colleagues from partnership schools to the School of Education for the launch of our Community of Education, Inquiry and Practice (CEIP). They were joined by representatives from local colleges and other educational organisations, as well as staff from across our School of Education.
The CEIP is intended as a space for meaningful collaboration between professionals across all of these educational settings. Our aspiration is that we can together identify common interests and new possibilities for collaborative activity that will ultimately benefit young people in the region. Outcomes might range from a better shared understanding of aspects of education to the transformation of practice through inquiry or other forms of innovation. The activities of the CEIP will emerge through discussion with members, but we envisage termly meetings, an online presence and participants networking directly with one another between these events.
At the launch event, we outlined the aims of the group and some of the theory behind this working ‘across boundaries’, before sharing some diverse examples of previous and ongoing collaborations between schools, colleges and the university. We then engaged in some discussion-based activities aimed at getting to know one another and beginning to explore mutual interests and potential connections. By the end of the event, tentative ideas and collaborations were already starting to emerge!
Information about future CEIP events will be sent to our partnership mailing list.
Any questions about CIEP can be please emailed to Dr Rupert Knight - rupert.knight@nottingham.ac.uk.
