Trent Building from a low perspective on the lawns

Thoroughfare through Trent Courtyard temporarily unavailable

Friday, 17 April 2026
Due to repair works on a water pipe servicing the building, Trent Courtyard is currently unavailable to use as a thoroughfare. Please use alternative routes and plan your journeys accordingly.

The east archway (Portland side) of Trent Courtyard is closed as we carry out remedial work on a burst water pipe.

The courtyard is still open and can be accessed via the west archway but cannot be used as a thoroughfare for the foreseeable future. While these works are in place, pedestrians, cyclists and wheelchair users will be able to bypass Trent Courtyard using the cycle path that connects Jubilee Avenue and East Drive, passing behind the Trent Building (beneath Highfields House and Cherry Tree Lodge).

All entrances to Trent Building remain open with the exception of the entrance through the Security office beneath the east archway.

We expect the archway to be closed for the next few weeks and potentially into the exam period so please do consider this when planning your journeys around campus or into the Trent Building.

In addition, we expect the study space in LG25 of Trent Building to be closed until Monday 18 May. Alternative study spaces can be booked here.

Thank you for your understanding and we apologise for any inconvenience this may cause. If there are any changes to the situation, we will update this article.
