We鈥檝e got a packed Wilding Campuses Summer Term calendar that we鈥檇 love you to get involved in.
As our campuses come into full bloom, hedgehogs become active after hibernation and nocturnal life brims with activity, there’s never been a more perfect time to connect with nature. The season will culminate in an exciting festival to celebrate everything we’ve been working towards and look to the future of Wilding Campuses. There are plenty of activities to get involved in and everyone is welcome.
Hedgehog House Building
If you’re an Architecture student, join in with hedgehog house building every Tuesday between 1pm and 3pm in the Centre for 3D Design, University Park. No booking is required, just turn up.
These houses will provide safe, insulated refuges for hedgehogs emerging from hibernation, when they can be most vulnerable to cold, disturbance, and energy loss.
Wilding Photography Competition with PhotoSoc
Submit your wildlife photos using the Green Rewards app in the categories: ‘Life on Land’ and ‘Life by the Water’ for the chance to win a £20 voucher. You can also enter up to six times on our Padlet using QR codes on the new campus photography posts' for the chance to receive a Wilding Campuses book. A selection of photos will be exhibited at the June Wilding Festival.
The Wilding Photo Competition end date is Sunday the 31 May.
Wilding Campuses Festival
Come celebrate and connect with nature. Enjoy nature activities, talks, a foraging workshop and photo exhibitions, plus have your say on the future of Wilding at UoN.
This event takes place on Wednesday 10 June:
- 12-1pm in Room B62, Law and Social Sciences
The Wilding Campuses Team, and will give a short talk starting with an introduction by Katherine Linehan, Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Education & Student Experience.
Plus, photo competition winners will be announced and displayed.
Food will be provided. Please use the below booking link to register your place.
- 1pm onwards in the Millennium Garden
Take part in nature workshops including foraging, the making of elderflower cordial and herbal tea, pond dipping, bug house building and habitat restoration.
Find out about ways to get involved in restoring nature locally with stalls from Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust, Trent Rivers Trust, Greenwood Community Forest, Community Engagement, plus UoN Wellbeing and more.
Photo Posts
Six photo posts have been installed on our UK campuses. Help us monitor our landscapes and support the university’s long-term commitment to restoring nature by sharing your photos using the QR code on the stand. By doing this you are helping to track habitat evolution and the effects of a changing climate.
