The Future Nottingham 2 Draft Business Case is due to be discussed at Council on Wednesday 6 May. If approved, the decision and next steps will be communicated to staff and students following the decision.
We are aware that some of this information has been shared with the media ahead of the Council decision and wanted to let you know that nothing has yet been finalised. These are still proposals and when a final decision has been made, we have a full plan in place to ensure that all colleagues who are affected, our students and our wider university community, are kept informed.
We recognise that students may feel anxious and upset about the information shared and how it impacts them. Please remember that your Wellbeing Team are here to support you should you have any concerns. Don’t hesitate to reach out to them.
- Thursday 7 May: All staff/students will receive an email outlining the Council decision
If the draft business case is approved, then we will move into the following sequence of activities. If it is not approved, these activities will be cancelled.
- Thursday 7 May: Collective consultation will begin with staff and trade unions
- Monday 11 May: Staff will be invited to FN2 briefing sessions
- Wednesday 13 May: Student FN2 forums will commence in each faculty
- May-September: Virtual drop-ins will be available throughout the summer for students who have questions or concerns
Pending the outcome of the consultation, we anticipate a final business case being submitted to trade unions, Senate, and University Council in September. If it is approved, the proposed changes will be implemented from October 2026, with a view to new structures being in place by September 2027.
