Why I took part in a Nottingham micro-placement

Why did you decide to do the micro-placement?

I found this short program fascinating as it let me, as an MBA student, connect my project management and marketing strategy development skills into practise for a real client, and more focused on the UK market. Despite great modules and learnings that came out of my cohort, I am always looking for opportunities to showcase my team building and collaboration skills in a professional setting, which would improve my marketing and time management skills in the process. I am happy to finally do this micro-placement!

What was the most interesting part of the micro-placement?

The most interesting part of this program has to be my assigned client, Dr Newton. She is extremely talented, and her expertise on the topic and project briefing made me think more out of the box, and her instructions about the expectations for the project were very clear. It was a joy to speak to my client during our introductory meeting and follow-ups. Her feedback on my team's initial draft report was an exemplary way of showing her attention to detail and focus on core metrics and values she was expecting from the project, which, my team and I delivered handsomely!

What impact has the micro-placement had on you, or your career plans?

The impact has surely been that I have gained a good amount of confidence in working in the consulting and marketing domain pertaining to a given project and deadline for a client. The way I was leading the project as team leader gave me enough to work with, listen to feedback, collaborate with my team and take everyone's research and opinions into account, which made for very healthy discussions, and overall our delivery was to the point as per our client's needs!

What advice would you give to yourself if you were doing it again?

Well, honestly I had fun doing it! Always I keep in mind to never take stress beyond my limit, it will not give me added productivity!
