As usual, the range of projects funded is remarkably diverse – from table tennis sessions in care homes to building state-of-the-art robots and introducing the study of Law to disadvantaged students in primary schools.
One of those projects funded was the Paediatric Conference 2025. This was an opportunity for students to learn more about the profession and meet experts in the field to help with future career prospects in paediatrics. We caught up with fourth-year Medicine student Ella McLeod to find out more about the conference and why she wanted to be involved.
“We are passionate about paediatric healthcare and encouraging students who are interested in this field as a career. We wanted to create an educational experience where students from a range of healthcare courses, with an interest in a career in Paediatrics, can learn more about the profession and current interesting developing areas within the specialty. It also allowed students to network with experts in the field, creating important connections for their future careers as well as the opportunity to ask any questions.
“More than 170 tickets were sold prior to the event with non-ticket holders also accessing the conference on the day. We had students from 10 different universities across the UK and abroad. From the º£½ÇºÚÁÏ we had a lot of attendees from the Teddy Bear Hospital and Juniors societies.
“It was really rewarding, and I have learnt a lot from being involved with the organisation. It was exciting to see our hard work pay off with a great conference.
“Thank you so much for your support with this conference, we are hoping that through this project we will have helped the next generation of paediatric clinicians in their journeys which will have positive impacts on patients for years to come.”
Thank you for supporting student-led projects like this.
