The friendships you make at university can last a lifetime - but we know how important it can be to continue to build connections once you have graduated too.

Our Nottingham Nights networking events give you the opportunity to meet like-minded people in an informal venue and are particularly aimed at our younger graduates to help them begin to build their networks.

Over the last month we've been across the globe; in Mexico City and Guadalajara, Istanbul, Shenzhen and Hangzhou, and here in London.

Mexico

Tiffany Howard, Head of Alumni Engagement (Business School and International), hosted in Mexico City alongside Dr Patricio Sanchez-Campos, Director of Student Recruitment, Global Partnerships and Student Mobility at the Business School, where we welcomed 25 alumni. Dr Sanchez-Campos also welcomed alumni at a low-key networking event in Guadalajara too.

Istanbul

Huge thanks to our International Alumni Ambassador for helping to source a venue and host our networking event in the Turkish city, which was also attended by James Medina, the university's International Relations Manager (Middle East, Turkey & Pakistan).

Ozde said: "It was such a wonderful event, with 23 alumni in attendance. Two participants even traveled from Izmir specifically for the event, and one joined us from Kocaeli.

"The atmosphere was incredibly warm and enjoyable - we shared many laughs, and several participants reached out afterward to express how happy they were and how much they value having more events like this."

China

Stephanie Baxter, Alumni Engagement Manager (Nottingham University Business School), headed over to China to host events in Shenzhen and Hangzhou, as well as meeting colleagues at our Ningbo campus.

The Hangzhou event was primarily attended by recent graduates, many of whom said how lonely they feel in the city due to the working culture in China, but that this event had introduced them to lots of new friends. She was asked multiple times when the next event will be!

Stephanie then headed to Shenzhen for our second event, attended by a range of alumni who have graduated over the past 16 years, with a varied mix of courses represented, including a large cohort from Nottingham University Business School and Engineering. Dr Patricio Sanchez-Campos, Assistant Professor in Marketing, gave opening remarks and our amazing Interantional Alumni Ambassador, Matthew Li, facilitated a lively game of Bingo, with lots of º£½ÇºÚÁÏ prizes to be won!

Stephanie said: "It was so energising meeting this group, and I’ve had some insightful feedback on how we can continue effectively engaging all our alumni in the Greater Bay Area - the 'emerging Silicon Valley of Asia'!

London

Our final networking event of the month was here in the UK, as our Head of Alumni Engagement Rachael Green and Alumni Engagement Officer Lily Fairless hosted around 40 alumni at the Wolfpack West Hampstead - owned by Nottingham graduate and former International Rugby Union player Chris Wyles (Politics, 2006). Special thanks also to Costas Kalisperas (Law, 1990), our guest speaker on the night.
