Biography

I am Associate Professor in Physiotherapy in the School of Health Sciences.

My primary research interest is in personalising and optimising exercise in Osteoarthritis and improving outcomes for patients with musculoskeletal problems, currently focused on patients who develop stiffness (arthrofibrosis) following joint replacement.

I co-lead on the Behavioural & Complex Interventions research group within the School of Health Sciences and the Acute Rehabilitation stream at the National Rehabilitation Centre. I collaborate with colleagues at the Arthritis UK Pain Centre and the NIHR Nottingham Biomedical Research Centre.

My teaching focuses on the use of evidence-based healthcare within physiotherapy, the rehabilitation of musculoskeletal conditions, physical activity and lifestyle interventions. I have experience in a range of quantitative research study designs including epidemiology studies, systematic reviews, intervention development and clinical trials. I have supervised 8 PhD students to completion, and I am always happy to be contacted about potential projects.
