Biography

Robin joined the School of Economics in September 2004 as Professor of Economics and Decision Research. Between completing his doctorate at Oxford University in 1990 and joining the School, he was Lecturer, Reader and then Professor of Economics at the University of East Anglia. His research studies individual and interactive decision-making, using theoretical and experimental techniques. It sometimes draws on philosophy and psychology, as well as on economics.

Current Research

Current and recent projects concern the methodology of experimental economics; individual decision-making in dynamic choice problems; attitudes to free riding in social dilemmas; preference reversal; social evolution and preferences; and modelling players' mutual knowledge in games. As well as these topics, he has previously worked on macroeconomic theory, focussing particularly on the relationship between monetary policy regimes and macroeconomic performance and on the interface between macroeconomics and labour economics.

He is co-author of a recent on experimental economics and has published papers in journals including Review of Economic Studies, Economic Journal, Oxford Economic Papers, Games and Economic Behaviour, Experimental Economics and the Journal of Risk and Uncertainty.
